Alfens Castle (Millen)

The Alfens Water Castle was first mentioned in the 14th century under the Lords of Alfens. In the 19th century, two new constructions of the complex took place, until finally, in 1880, the present building was erected.

The castle is characterized by its impressive neo-Gothic architecture. The main building, with its distinctive turrets and battlements, reflects the romantic ideal of a medieval knight's castle. The use of local quarry stone gives the building a robust and authentic appearance.

The Main Tower

The main tower, rising majestically above the entire complex, served not only defensive purposes but also as a symbol of power and prestige. From its top, one could enjoy a wide view over the surrounding landscape.

The Courtyard

The inner courtyard, enclosed by various wings of the castle, was the central hub of daily life. Here, festivities were celebrated, and economic activities took place. Today, it offers a tranquil oasis for visitors.
