Alsdorf Castle

The history of Alsdorf Castle dates back to the 12th century, when Gottfried von Lovenberg was first documented as Lord of Alsdorf. His family shaped the estate for seven generations. In the early 14th century, the property was enfeoffed to the Duke of Brabant, making the castle an open house of the Brabant dukes. After the Lovenberg male line died out in 1404, ownership passed to Arnold von Hoemen after inheritance disputes. Later, in 1478, the castle transferred to the von Harff family through marriage, who erected a new building in the early 16th century. After almost two centuries under the von Harffs, the castle came into the possession of the von Blanckart family through inheritance.
