Amlishagen Castle, a spur castle, rises approximately 430 meters above the Brettach Valley. It is located in Amlishagen, a district of Gerabronn in the Schwäbisch Hall district of Baden-Württemberg. This complex is a striking example of a shield wall castle.

History+

The origins of Amlishagen Castle date back to the 13th century, with its first documented mention in 1253. In the second half of the 14th century, in 1601, and again in the 19th century, the castle underwent expansions. It was owned by the Lords of Amlishagen and later by the Lords of Wollmershausen.
