Branč Castle
Branč castle was built at the turn of XIII and XIV century. The Aba family was hypothetic founder of the castle. It was mentioned first time in writting in 1317 - oligarch Matuš Čak was listed as the owner. In the end of XIV century new lord of Branč became Ścibor of Sciborzyce and then the Pangracs. Both - Polish knight and Hungarian noble family of Mikulas; developed the castle making it one of the biggest in Slovakia. In 1715 the owners built new manor and abandoned the castle demolishing by the way part of walls. Also autochtons damaged rest of the castle acquiring building materials for building villages around. Since then the castle is ruined. Protective works were started in 1968 and still going.
