Dattenfeld Castle

Dattenfeld Castle is a fortified house in the Windeck district of Dattenfeld.

Originally, Dattenfeld Castle was a feudal rectory, built by Pastor Johann Robens, who previously lived in Rossel. Extensive records from the Thirty Years' War originate from him. The square core of the complex was built between 1619 and 1629 and was later expanded with several additions and alterations. The weather vane of the house shows the year 1629. Due to the alterations to the house and the turreted outer wall, the complex appears like a manor house.

Civil marriages can be performed in the castle, which is now privately owned and also functions as an outpost of the Windeck municipal administration. There is no longer a café or hotel operation in the complex. In the village center, there is the Schlosscafé, which takes its name from the house.
