In Windeck-Dattenfeld, Dattenfeld Castle stands as a fortified house with origins in the 17th century. Although referred to as a castle, the structure today appears more like a stately home.

History+

The complex was built between 1619 and 1629, originally as a feudal rectory under Pastor Johann Robens. Robens, who previously resided in Rossel, left extensive records from the Thirty Years' War. The square core building was later expanded with various additions and alterations, giving the castle its current manor-like appearance with a turreted outer wall.
