Duttenberg Castle, a manor, is located in Bad Friedrichshall-Duttenberg in the Heilbronn district, Baden-Württemberg. Originally built around 800 AD, it gained importance in the 14th century.

History+

The first mention of the castle as “Dudunburc” dates back to 798/799, while the Duttenberg district was already named “Tutumer marca” in 778. The settlement, on whose remains the castle was built, was probably established around 600 AD during the Frankish land acquisition. Around 800 AD, a manor developed on a ridge above the Jagst Valley, which grew into the medieval Duttenberg Castle. In the 14th century, the Lords of Weinsberg owned the castle as an imperial estate and granted it to various noble families, including the Lords of Bieringen. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Lords of Wittstatt were the feudal tenants.
