Endenich Castle, located in the Endenich district of Bonn, is a structure whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. Today, only the outer bailey remains, which is protected as a monument.

History+

The first written records mentioning knights residing at Endenich Castle date to around 1200. It is presumed that the castle was built on an estate acquired by the Cassius Abbey as early as 1135, although this can no longer be definitively proven. The main castle was destroyed at the latest during the Palatinate War of Succession between 1688 and 1697, possibly even earlier. From 1619, the castle was owned by the von Weichs family. In 1690, it was sold to Heinrich von Lapp, the Electorate of Cologne's court chamber director. His family inhabited the castle until 1812, before it was sold to Karl Wilhelm Nose.
