Falkenfels Castle

The origins of Falkenfels Castle date back to 1100, when the Counts of Bogen erected the complex on a steeply sloping rock. From 1232, the Knights of Hohenfels took over, followed by the Falkensteiner of Falkenfels around 1400. In 1331, the castle was mentioned as a landed estate. In 1425, it came into the possession of the Frauenberger family, was plundered by Hussites in the same year, and conquered in 1468 by Duke Albrecht IV's troops during the Böckler War. After the extinction of the Frauenberger family in 1480, the Paulsdorfer family followed. Besieged and burned down in the Löwler War in 1492, it was rebuilt by Hans von Paulsdorf. Through marriage, the castle passed to the Seyboltstorffer family in 1525. From 1607 to 1796, the noble family of the Barons von Weichs owned the complex.
