Flechtingen Castle

The castle's origins date back to around 1300, as evidenced by the curtain wall, palas, and keep. From the 14th century, it served as the ancestral seat of the noble family Schenck von Flechtingen. In 1483, a relocation of the castle complex to the west took place. Late Gothic elements were added at the end of the 15th century, and about a century later, the castle received Renaissance-style additions. Around 1600, the original drawbridge was replaced by a fixed causeway.
