Freudenberg Castle

The hall church was built from 1601 to 1606. It consists of a nave, a three-sided choir in the east, and the church tower in the west, which is the converted tower of the former castle, of which nothing else remains. Its lower floors initially had to continue to serve as a prison. During the city fire on August 9, 1666, the church also burned out. Its restoration lasted until 1675. In 1670, the church tower was raised with a slate-covered floor, which houses the tower clock and the belfry, and covered with an onion dome. The interior is spanned by a flat ceiling, and the nave and choir are connected by a chancel arch. In 1862, as more seating was needed, the interior was equipped with additional galleries. The organ with 28 registers on two manuals and pedal was built in 2000 by Freiburger Orgelbau Hartwig and Tilmann Späth. It was placed at the bottom of the choir. The gallery built in 1862, on which the old organ stood, had been demolished.
