In Hüchelhoven in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, is Geretzhoven Castle, a former moated castle. Its core dates back to the 16th century, and it has a manor house with corner towers and moat systems.

History+

The name Geretzhoven was first documented in 1328, associated with Reinhard von Geretzhoven. Originally, the castle belonged to the St. Ursula Collegiate Church in Electoral Cologne. In 1688, ownership transferred to the von Bodelschwingh family through marriage. This family carried out restoration work on the buildings around 1920.
