On the southern edge of the village of Goldbeck in Brandenburg rises Goldbeck Castle, a former moated castle. Its special feature is a narrow one-man postern gate next to the main gate, which is unique in Brandenburg in this form.

History+

The first documented mention of the village of Goldbeck dates back to 1247, when it belonged to the Lords of Werle. Following conflicts in 1276 between Margrave Otto V of Brandenburg and the Lords of Werle, the territory fell to the Counts of Ruppin, who had to acknowledge the feudal lordship of the Bishops of Havelberg.
