Großbüllesheim Castle
Großbüllesheim Castle is the remnant of a former moated castle located between the Erftmühlenbach stream and the "Untere Ahr" waterway in the Großbüllesheim district of Euskirchen (An der Burgmühle/Kompstrasse) in the Euskirchen district, North Rhine-Westphalia.
The moated castle was first mentioned in 1402 as a fief of the Duke of Jülich to Reymer Spies von Büllesheim and remained a Jülich fief until 1802, the year of death of Ludwig von Brempt, the last Jülich Duke. After that, the castle was no longer a noble residence and fell into disrepair.
In 1867, the property came into the possession of the Nettekoven tenant family, who built a new residential house in 1886, divided the land and farm, and subsequently ran two independent agricultural businesses, which still have two owners today.

Of the former castle complex, a two-part pond system that represented a knight's seat eligible for the state parliament, only the residential house of the outer bailey, leaning against the gate tower, remains today. Only remnants from the 17th century are preserved from the former main castle. The moat has been filled in.
