Grub Castle, also known as Grueb, is a historic structure in Gmunden, Upper Austria. Although parts of it are now integrated into the district court, it was a town castle and defensive fortification.

History+

The first documented mention of Grub Castle dates back to 1453, when Hanns der Schober sold a tower and two adjacent houses in the town of Gmunden to the bailiff Sebastian Ziegelhwaser. The town castle was constructed in 1520. Its location on the town wall made it a defensive point.
