Hausdorp Castle
Burg Hausdorp, also known as Burghaus Dorp or Haus Dorp, is a castle and a current manor house above the Naafbach valley in the hamlet of Hausdorp in the city of Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia. - The "Burghaus" is the oldest verifiable secular building in the Lohmar city area to date.
In the 14th century, a farm in "Dorp" was already mentioned in documents, which was a fief of the Siegburg Abbey of St. Michael and owned by the von Markelsbach family (also called Allner), who also resided at Schloss Allner and Schloss Birlinghoven. They built the Burghaus, having become the owners of "Dorp".
Through the marriage of a daughter, the house came to the reformed Wilhelm von Gülich zu Berg, became a meeting point for the Reformed from the region, and in 1672 received the right to free religious practice in its Catholic surroundings. Until 1814, the house chapel on the ground floor served for worship.
After the family died out, the house was inherited in two parts in the mid-19th century and is privately owned.
Current Use+
The former equestrian facility of the manor house and parts of the old farm buildings have been used by the "Reitgemeinschaft Haus Dorp e.V." since 1976. The Burghaus itself is privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside.
Description+
The Burghaus was built on a footprint of approximately 20 by 10 meters from greywacke masonry and half-timbering, now plastered, with slated gables and barrel-vaulted cellars.
According to dendrochronological examinations of the timbers of the roof truss, the construction period can be determined to be between 1504 and 1506.
