Hausdorp Castle

As early as the 14th century, a farm in Dorp existed as a fief of the Siegburg Abbey of St. Michael, owned by the von Markelsbach family. This family, who also owned Schloss Allner and Schloss Birlinghoven, later built the Burghaus. Through marriage, the estate came into the possession of Wilhelm von Gülich zu Berg, a Reformed Protestant. Hausdorp became a center for Reformed Protestants in the region and was granted the right to free religious practice in 1672. The house chapel on the ground floor served as a place of worship until 1814. After the family died out in the 19th century, the estate was divided and has since been privately owned. Dendrochronological studies date the construction of the roof truss to the years 1504 to 1506.
