Heimerzheim Castle, a well-preserved two-part castle complex, is located on the southern edge of Swisttal-Heimerzheim in the Rhein-Sieg district. It is among the best-preserved castles in the Swisttal with its outer bailey and main house, surrounded by wide moats.

History+

The origins of Heimerzheim Castle date back at least to the mid-13th century, when it was founded by the Lords of Heimerzheim. This knightly family owned the castle until 1324, before it was sold by Knight Wennemar von Heimerzheim to the Teutonic Order and subsequently served as the seat of a commandery. In the following centuries, the noble owners changed several times.
