Burg Heistard, a moated castle, is located in the Holzheim district of Mechernich in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its origins date back a long time.

History+

The first documented mention of Burg Heistard dates back to 1333. The parts of the building that still exist today were constructed from 1486 onwards. The manor house was rebuilt in the 15th or 16th century. In the 17th century, a gate tower was built, which was demolished in 1846. The farm buildings were also expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries, and even in the 19th century, work was still carried out on the east wing.
