Hohenfriedingen Castle

The origins of Hohenfriedingen Castle date back a long time, with a first, albeit unconfirmed, mention around the year 914 by King Konrad I. Between 1170 and 1180, the castle was built by the Lords of Friedingen. In the 14th century, the castle was divided, with the Schwarz family from Konstanz becoming co-owners. This share passed to Frischhans von Bodman zu Möggingen in 1448, and in 1476, the Lords of Bodman also acquired the remaining part. During the Swabian War in 1499, the castle was destroyed but subsequently rebuilt. In 1539, the Lords of Bodman sold the complex to the city of Radolfzell.
