Hohenhardt Castle, known today as Hohenhardter Hof, is a former motte-and-bailey castle near Schatthausen in the Rhein-Neckar district of Baden-Württemberg. Originally the ancestral seat of a noble family, it transformed from a noble residence into an agricultural estate.

History+

Archaeological findings suggest a motte with wooden structures in the late 11th century, supplemented by a stone keep in the early 12th century. The current building substance, featuring early Gothic windows and arrow slits, is dated to around 1240, incorporating older foundations. The noble family of Hohenhart first appeared in documents in 1127. After their extinction, the castle passed to the Palatinate and was enfeoffed to a ministerial family of the same name. In the 14th century, the ministerials sold the castle to the Electoral Palatinate in 1369.
