Holtzbrinck Castle

The first documented mention of the building dates back to 1643, when it was acquired by steward Georg Holtzbrinck. It is believed that the oldest part of the house originated in the 16th century. After the steward's death, his son Stephan Johann Holtzbrinck took over the estate. Between 1673 and 1689, he shaped the building's current appearance through renovations. In 1972, Burg Holtzbrinck became the property of the city of Altena. Following restoration, it was reopened as a community center in 1976. In the early 1980s, an underground car park was built in front of the building, above which a Rococo garden was created.
