Homberg Castle, also known as Homberg Palace, is an early medieval structure in Homberg (Ohm) in the Vogelsberg district.

History+

The first documented mention of the castle and the town of Homberg dates back to 1065. In 1146, the castle reappeared in documents, this time under the name Hohunburch. From 1190, the complex was occupied by castellans, until Homberg became a Hessian administrative seat in 1247. During the Thirty Years' War between 1618 and 1648, the castle suffered damage from Swedish and Lower Hessian troops, with the keep being blown up. After the war, in 1648, a partial restoration took place, followed by a renovation in 1836.
