Ingenhoven Castle (Lobberich)

The first documented mention of Burg Ingenhoven occurred in 1403, when it was recorded in the Guelders feudal register. It served as a knight's seat for the noble family of the Bocholters, whose ancestral home was the nearby moated castle Burg Bocholt. A representative of this family was Prince-Abbot Reiner, who led Corvey Abbey from 1555 to 1585. In 1748, the castle passed into the possession of the von Bentinck family and other noble families through inheritance division. From 1820, it came into bourgeois ownership via Count von Mirbach and was later acquired by the industrialist Niedieck family. Under Commercial Councillor Julius Niedieck, Villa Haus Erlenbruch was built in the southwestern part of the park.
