Kadaň Castle
The Kadaň castle was founded in 1250 and served as the residence of the royal administrator. In 1421 it was of crusaders partially destroyed after two months in advance of the Hussites had been captured.
King George of Podiebrad had the castle renovated in 1467. 1504 ordered Johann von Lobkowicz the further renovation of the dilapidated castle, which lost its original Gothic appearance. The greatest destruction learned the object during the Thirty Years' War, especially by the Swedish occupiers.
1750, the castle was commissioned by Maria Theresa in a barracks remodeled. These were expanded after 1816. The next 150 years it served the Austrian and Czech army. After a further reconstruction of the castle was in the nineties of the 20th century into the possession of the city and is now used for cultural purposes.
