Near the Andernach district of Eich in Rhineland-Palatinate is Krayerhof Castle, also known as Krayer Burg, a moated castle. Its Romanesque core, including the main building and the courtyard tower, is still preserved.

History+

Krayerhof Castle was built in the 11th century by Lambert von Lützing. In 1336, it was owned by the Electorate of Cologne before passing into the possession of various noble families. In 1813, the leather manufacturer Nebel from Andernach acquired the complex, which was then sold in 1827 to Matthias Hölterhof from Cologne.
