Kriebstein Castle

The origins of Kriebstein Castle date back to the 14th century when the Lords of Beerwalde established it as their residence and seat of power. Dietrich von Beerwalde had the castle built in its current form, with the residential tower, chapel, and curtain wall dating back to around 1384. After his death in 1408, ownership passed to his widow Elisabeth and later to his daughter Klara. A second construction phase began in 1465 under Hugold III von Schleinitz, who commissioned the master builder Arnold von Westfalen for expansions. His late Gothic forms shaped the appearance of the economic wing and the kitchen house.
