The exact date of Kriegshoven Castle's foundation is unknown, but the Lords of Kriegshoven were first documented around the mid-13th century. In 1247, a pond was transferred to the then owner, Heinrich von Creshovin, by the sacristan of St. Kunibert. The castle changed hands multiple times.
