History+

The origins of Burg Lichtenwerth date back to the 12th century, evidenced by its regular construction and Romanesque windows. The first documented mention of the complex occurred in 1212, followed by another in 1249. In the 17th century, the castle's defensive tower was shortened, while the keep and palas were renovated in the 18th century. The castle chapel received Rococo stucco decorations in 1776. Since 1879, Lichtenwerth has been the private property of the Inama-Sternegg family.
