Linzenich Castle

Burg Linzenich was first documented in 1357, when a nobleman named Teyle von Linzenich was mentioned as its owner. In the early 15th century, Werner von Merode acquired the property, which he sold in 1421 to Margaretha von Ellerborn, née Merode. At that time, the estate was exempt from tithes and taxes but did not possess castle rights. In 1472, the Lords of Cloyn were the owners, and their line died out in 1642. In the same year, the castle was completely destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. Through inheritance, the property passed to the von Keverberg family. After reconstruction, the complex was damaged by an earthquake in 1755. In the 19th century, the castle changed hands several times among commoner owners.
