Moosham Castle is at an elevation of approximately 1093 meters above sea level. Its history and art collection make it a destination for history enthusiasts and culture lovers.

History+

First documented in 1191, Moosham Castle came into the possession of the Archbishops of Salzburg in 1285. In the 14th century, it established itself as a seat for regional judges and administrators. Under Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach, the fortress underwent expansions until 1577. The Moosham district court was dissolved by Archbishop Colloredo in 1790, after which the castle fell into disrepair. In 1886, Johann Nepomuk Graf Wilczek acquired the complex, having previously invested in Kreuzenstein Castle. Moosham Castle remains in family ownership to this day.
