Niederbolheim Castle was first mentioned in 1341 as castrum Boylnheym. The castle was a motte, seat of the Knights of Bolheim. Later owners were the Spies von Büllesheim. Hence the name Spiesburg. Today, the manor house built in 1870 and located on the B 477 is referred to as Niederbolheim Castle.
