In the municipality of Much in the Rhein-Sieg district stands Burg Overbach, a former moated castle. Its history dates back to the late 15th century, and has shaped the estate to the present day.

History+

The first documented mention of Burg Overbach dates to 1487, when Heinrich von Overbach was named as its owner. The castle changed hands multiple times. Johann Friedrich von Omphal was the last noble resident before he sold the castle to Dr. Sybertz from Cologne. Sybertz, in turn, sold it to Johann Adolf Sauer, the then-mayor of Much. In 1685, the castle underwent renovation.
