History+
The Gothic castle from the 14th century was presumably built by the Lords of Železnice, whose line subsequently called themselves von Pecka. The first owner of the castle mentioned is Budivoj von Pecka in 1322. In 1365, the brothers Hereš, Mutina and Jan von Pecka followed. Jarek von Železnice und Pecka, who owned the dominion since 1417, was able to maintain the Catholic confession in his territory until 1432. In August 1432, the siege of the castle by the Orphans began, which lasted until February 1433. After a negotiated armistice, Jarek von Pecka was able to keep his estates, but had to join the Orphans and allow Utraquism in his dominion. In 1475, the Lords Horšický z Horšic bought the castle, who rebuilt the original castle located in the south. In the 16th century, further renovations in the Renaissance style took place. In 1603, Christoph Harant von Polschitz und Weseritz acquired the Pecka dominion. After his execution in 1621, his property was confiscated and sold to Albrecht von Waldstein. He donated the Pecka dominion to the Carthusian monastery Karthaus, which he founded. Around/before 1844, Franz Alexander Heber visited, described and drew the castle ruins. In the castle there is a permanent exhibition about the life of Christoph Harant Freiherr von Polschitz und Weseritz, who was a significant humanist, traveler, soldier and politician.
