Rabenstein Castle

The castle's origins date back to the 13th century when it was known as Rammenstein and Hartnid Schenk von Rammenstein resided there. An older castle complex burned down in the 15th century and was not rebuilt. The castle still standing today was constructed in the 14th century and was initially in princely possession. After various feudal lords, the then ruined castle was granted by King Maximilian I to the Harrach family in 1497 and subsequently rebuilt. Lienhard von Harrach sold it to Philipp von Breuner in 1543, after which the complex was further expanded. Later, Rabenstein passed to the Waldstein family. Under the Trautmannsdorf family, the castle underwent a Baroque renovation.
