History+

The origins of Ramsberg Castle date back to around 1200, when it was presumably built. In 1225, it is associated with Knight Ulrich von Plochingen. The first documentary mention occurred on September 22, 1270, when Konrad, Ulrich's son, signed a deed of gift at the castle. From 1327, the complex was owned by the Lords of Rechberg. Between 1529 and 1809, Ramsberg Castle and its lands changed owners five times. A first renovation took place around 1450, followed by another between 1560 and 1580. The castle chapel, originally dedicated to Saint Margaret and later to Saint Martin, was built in 1560 and restored after a fire in the 1960s.
