Ramsdorf Castle stands in the Ramsdorf district of Velen in the Borken district, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is currently used as a museum.

History+

The origins of Ramsdorf Castle date back to 1425, when Bishop Heinrich von Moers commissioned the construction of an initial complex. However, this early castle was completely destroyed during the Münster Diocesan Feud between 1450 and 1457. After its destruction, it was rebuilt. The current rectangular brick building, articulated with ashlar elements, was constructed in 1732. It was built for the brothers Anton Heinrich and Alexander Jungeblodt, incorporating parts of the original 15th-century complex and the round tower into the new construction.
