Rauhenstein Castle

The Lords of Kirchberg built the castle. It was first mentioned in the 13th century. Until 1289, the castle was owned by Hadmar von Schönberg. After this, ownership changed to Zwettl Abbey, to the Lords of Rauhenstein, in 1592 to Hannibal von Sonderndorf and the Binder family. In 1714, parts of the curtain wall were demolished. In 1743, it was converted into a granary.
