Rebstein Castle
The Castle of the Lords of Ems+
The former castle of the Lords of Ems was destroyed in the 14th century. Around 1418, a new building was constructed by Hugo von Watt from St. Gallen. In 1585, the castle was expanded into the present-day "Haus zur Burg" by Daniel and Christoph Studer. In 1661, ownership transferred to Colonel Brügger von Salis-Soglio. In 1923, the castle was gifted to the Bishop of St. Gallen for the establishment of a girls' reformatory. In 1949, a renovation took place, and since then, the castle has been owned by the Seraphisches Liebeswerk Solothurn.
