Regenpeilstein Castle
In the Upper Palatinate municipality of Traitsching, Regenpeilstein Castle, a historic fortification, is situated at approximately 384 meters above sea level. Although only remnants are visible today, it was once the seat of a noble family.
History+
Regenpeilstein Castle was first documented in 1180. It is presumed to have been the original ancestral seat of the Lords of Peilnstein. In the 15th century, the complex began to fall into disrepair. In the 16th century, Justinian von Peilnstein built the New Sattelpeilnstein Castle below the already ruined old castle.

Today, Regenpeilstein Castle is privately owned. Of the former complex, which was constructed from granite ashlar blocks, only minor wall remnants have survived.
