The Castle can be visited

In the Warche Valley near Robertville, Belgium, stands Reinhardstein Castle, also known as Schloss Reinhardstein or Metternich Castle. Originally built in 1354, it was extensively reconstructed starting in 1969 after a period of decay.

History+

The construction of Reinhardstein Castle was commissioned in 1354 by Count Wenzel of Luxembourg and carried out by his vassal Reinhard von Weismes. The estate changed hands multiple times. It belonged to the Counts of Nassau before Wilhelm von Metternich acquired the castle for the Metternich family in 1550 through marriage to Anna von Nassau zu Reinhardstein. The Princes of Metternich transformed the complex into a château and inhabited it until the French Revolution. After its confiscation during the revolution, Reinhardstein was returned to the Metternichs in 1798.
