Riedheim Castle

The origins of Riedheim Castle date back to the 13th to 14th centuries, when it was built by the Lords of Randegg. It is believed that the castle suffered damage during the Swiss War. Around the year 1500, the residential tower was likely raised, and the courtyard portal was expanded. In 1518, Hans von Schellenberg owned the castle, followed by Konrad Vintler von Plätsch in 1609. In 1601, ownership transferred to Archduke Leopold of Austria, before it was sold to Petershausen Monastery in 1735. Following secularization in 1803, the castle came into the possession of the Margraves of Baden and was sold to the municipality of Riedheim in 1841. After a partial collapse of the tower roof in 1951, the attic was restored in 1957. A restoration of the complex took place between 1976 and 1978.
