Rindern Castle

The construction of Rindern Moated Castle took place in 1654 by Herman Hecking and G. Ranwick, who initially managed the property as Gut op gen Poll. As early as 1666, the Great Elector of Brandenburg acquired the castle to use it as a hunting lodge. Under his governor Johann Moritz von Nassau-Siegen, the complex was integrated into the Kleve Gardens. In the early 18th century, the castle underwent a first transformation, followed by another renovation in 1851, during which only a few sandstone ornaments of the original facade remained. After World War II, the district of Kleve removed the damages before the Diocese of Münster acquired the castle in 1954 and established a rural adult education center there in 1956.
