Ringsheim Castle
Ringsheim Castle, also known as Ringsheim Palace, is a former moated castle east of the Euskirchen district of Flamersheim (Ringsheimer Weg) in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The moated castle, surrounded by the village of Ringsheim, which disappeared in the 17th century, was in the possession of the important Lords of Ringsheim in the 13th century as a Cologne fief and strategically well located between the Flamersheim Bannwald and the Coronation Road. - In addition to the castle with the village and the church, the Lords of Ringsheim also owned a house monastery in Schweinheim and castles in Flamersheim and Lindweiler.
In 1249, the castle was first mentioned on the occasion of its destruction. In 1455, due to over-indebtedness, it came into the possession of the Hereditary Marshal of Jülich, Johann Hurth von Schoeneck. After the Schoeneck family died out in 1615, the castle changed owners several times until it fell to Wennemar von Schaaffhausen in 1990.

The castle is a moated complex with a stately manor house with quarry stone masonry from the 18th century and an inner bailey with a farmyard from the 19th century with a church ruin. Only remnants of walls and towers remain of the outer bailey. The inner buildings of the castle complex are built against tower-fortified walls from the 13th century. The medieval main castle bears the 17th-century palace on its surrounding walls. The palace, inhabited by its owners, shows the grand bourgeois style of the 19th century inside.
