Rosslau Castle is a historic moated castle in Dessau-Rosslau, Saxony-Anhalt. It is characterized by its medieval architecture and the discovery of a rare hot-air heating system, offering insights into early heating technologies.

History+

The origins of Rosslau Castle date back to the 12th century, with a Slavic settlement castle previously existing on the same site. Initial construction phases included a residential tower and a curtain wall. In 1358, the castle was first documented when the Princes of Anhalt repurchased it from the Counts of Lindau. Until the 16th century, the complex underwent extensive expansions. In the 17th century, it lost significance as the princes moved to Zerbst.
