Schwarzach Water Castle is a structure located in the municipality of Schwarzach in the Neckar-Odenwald district of Baden-Württemberg. It now serves as a forester's lodge and, despite modifications, still retains visible traces of its medieval past.

History+

The origins of Schwarzach Castle likely date back to the early 14th century, when it was built by the Diocese of Worms. As early as 1319, the fief passed from Konrad von Weinsberg into the possession of the Electoral Palatinate. In the centuries that followed, up to the beginning of the Thirty Years' War in 1618, the Schwarzach fief changed hands several times, including to the Landschad von Steinach, the Lords of Handschuhsheim, and the Lords of Helmstatt.
