Sulzbach Castle

The origins of Sulzbach Castle date back to the 8th century, as evidenced by archaeological findings that prove settlement approximately 300 years before the previously assumed founding in the 11th century. The complex was located in an area of great dynamic historical rule and settlement, favored by its traffic-topographical location on important trade routes and as a gateway to the Bohemian sphere of influence. In the 9th and early 10th centuries, the castle was owned by a family of the Carolingian imperial aristocracy, who had stone buildings and a church constructed.
