Thuisbrunn Castle

Thuisbrunn Castle was first documented in 1348, with Knight Hiltpolt von Mayenthal zu Thuisbrunn named as the lord of the castle. During the South German Cities' War in 1388, it suffered destruction by Nuremberg troops, after which it was granted as a fief to the Nuremberg burgraves. Another destruction occurred in 1420 during the Bavarian War by troops of Duke Ludwig of Ingolstadt. While the village of Thuisbrunn was affected by Nuremberg troops in 1449 and 1460, the castle remained unscathed. In the Second Margrave War of 1553, the complex was once again destroyed by Nuremberg troops. By 1558, only the administrative building and the keep were rebuilt.
