Tierberg Castle

The construction of Tierberg Castle took place around 1220 by the noble lords of Langenburg, who commissioned one of their vassals, Knight Arnold von Tierbach, to build it. The complex originally served to secure important long-distance trade routes. Knight Arnold named himself after the castle and was documented as Arnold von Tierberg in 1226. Between 1232 and 1235, the lordship of Langenburg passed to the Lords of Hohenlohe, making the Knights of Tierberg their vassals. In 1300, ownership transferred to the Feldner family from Hall, before the castle became direct property of the Hohenlohe-Langenburg in 1374. In 1387, Ulrich von Hohenlohe sold the castle to two lords from Stetten, which led to a family dispute.
