Unna Castle
Unna Castle, also known as Hof zur Küche in the 17th and 18th centuries, is a listed castle on the northeastern part of the city wall in Unna.
The construction of the castle presumably dates back to Engelbert III of the Mark in the 14th century. It underwent significant structural changes in the 19th century and has been home to the Hellweg Museum since 1936.
The founding of local history museums was a kind of intellectual counter-movement to increasingly technified modernity. The exhibitions of this local history museum, opened in 1928, range from prehistory and early history through the Middle Ages to the industrialization of the Hellweg region. In addition, there are changing special exhibitions with current relevance.
