Unna Castle
Unna Castle is situated on the northeastern edge of Unna's city wall. Originally built in the 14th century, it now houses a museum.
History+
The origins of Unna Castle likely date back to the 14th century, with Count Engelbert III of the Mark presumed to be its builder. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the building was also known as "Hof zur Küche." The castle underwent structural changes in the 19th century. Since 1936, it has served as the home for the Hellweg Museum, which was founded in 1928 and represented a response to the increasing technological advancement of that era.

Today, Unna Castle houses the Hellweg Museum. Exhibitions on prehistory, early history, the Middle Ages, and the industrialization of the Hellweg region are available. The offerings are complemented by rotating special exhibitions.
