Wanzleben Castle is located on the northern edge of the small town of Wanzleben in Saxony-Anhalt. Originally designed as a circular castle with double moats and ramparts, it is now a hotel, conference center, and restaurant.

History+

The first documented mention of Wanzleben Castle dates back to the year 968. From the 12th century onwards, it was administered by Gandersheim Abbey. In 1373, the Lords of Wanzleben sold the complex to the Archbishop of Magdeburg. Between 1680 and 1945, the castle served as a Brandenburg-Prussian domain and was managed by a Royal Domain tenant. After World War II, it housed the administration of an agricultural production cooperative. In the 1990s, descendants of the last tenant acquired the castle and initiated reconstruction starting in 1996. The main renovation work was completed in 2003.
