Wolfsberg Castle
Wolfsberg Castle in Lüdinghausen, Coesfeld district, is a moated castle whose origins date back to the 13th century. A preserved wing likely originates from the 16th century at its core.
History+
The first documented mention of Wolfsberg Castle dates from before 1270, when it was owned by Bernhard Wulf von Lüdinghausen. In 1380, the castle changed hands through marriage to the Lords of Hake. After the extinction of this family in 1537, the property passed to the Lords von der Recke zu Heessen. Another inheritance led the castle to the Barons von Boeselager in 1788. The current appearance is largely shaped by alterations from the late 18th century.
